We are almost there!!!

This week we are tracking keys, organ, saxophone, and vocals. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that this is the last week for musicians in the studio, but we may add trumpet next week. We are on track for a mid July pre-release date at this time. You all will receive a digital download of the album weeks before the CDs are pressed or released online in stores such as iTunes, Amazon, etc. Everything is sounding fantastic, and I really appreciate all of you for pre-ordering the album and joining me in this experience!

As I promised earlier, I would like to share some lyrics with you. Sometimes I write an entire song very fast while my hand is racing to keep up with my brain and all of it's scattered thoughts. Other times, lyrics come to me line by line in an organized fashion, a little at a time spanning a couple of days or weeks; but, usually, lyrics pop into my mind in the form of a story and the melody comes out naturally as I write it down. This song is one of those stories, and is aptly titled, "Stories In My Mind."

This is a song that I wrote after reflecting on the realization that my mind is my worst enemy and my greatest hero. There are references throughout the song to times when I endured great physical pain, and during these times my mind shut off the discomfort by concentrating on someone else's story. There are also references to times when my mind created the problem and my ensuing physical pain; pain that I've learned to recognize as symptoms of stress and anxiety.

This song is about the control that we have within our minds. Control over our thoughts, actions, and bodies, a super power that we often fail to recognize. This song speaks to how we frequently choose to ignore this power, even when we know it is the key to the solution, until we are essentially out of control.

Michael and I have encased my melody and lyrics in a playful arrangement. This seemed fitting based on how I feel about my perception to others. I absolutely love singing this song, and I hope you enjoy the lyrics. I can't wait to share the finished song with you!

"Stories In My Mind" - Michelle Romary

step out, and carry it overhead
just walk on by, it’s heavy lifting
the pain becomes unbearable
as i recall, that’s when perspective’s shifting

my shaking limbs are my alarm, that i ignore and go right back to sleep

i’ll see you when i wake up
you are the hiccup in my good enough
i’m going back under the covers till the day is almost done
i’ll see you later on, dear
consequently i’m not thinking clear
i will languish in my time, from these stories in my mind

enter the dream, slip back into routine
where my troubles occupy less space
i run and run, but i’m never fast enough
you are near and i can almost see your face

my shaking limbs are my alarm, that i ignore and go right back to sleep

i’ll see you when i wake up
you are the hiccup in my good enough
i’m going back under the covers till the day is almost done
i’ll see you later on, dear
consequently i’m not thinking clear
i will languish in my time, from these stories in my mind

i’m watching from the waves this catastrophe
that’s when i decide to leave
the weakest link will always work the hardest
tomorrow I’ll go back to being me

i’ll see you when i wake up
you are the hiccup in my good enough
i’m going back under the covers till the day is almost done
i’ll see you later on, dear
consequently i’m not thinking clear
i will languish in my time, from these stories in my mind

i will languish in my time, from these stories in my mind

Lyrics are always my favorite part of a song, especially since I can't sing!!! I enjoyed reading about what the song means to you and trying to imagine what the lyrics sound like in my head. Can't wait to hear the finished album.
